Corfu: A Natural Haven for Outdoor Learning
With its rich biodiversity, temperate climate, and cultural heritage, the island of Corfu provides a rich, sensory learning environment and the perfect setting for nature-based education. Here learning unfolds through direct experience — through the senses, the body, and the natural rhythms of the land.
Children at Boschetto grow up in close relationship with their surroundings. They explore coastal ecosystems, walk through olive groves and forests, observe local flora and fauna, and learn under open skies. The landscape itself becomes a teacher, inviting curiosity, care, and respect for the living world.
Being immersed in nature supports children’s emotional well-being, physical health, and capacity for focus and creativity. Time outdoors is not an occasional activity, but an integral part of daily life and learning.
The School Campus
After years of searching, we have found a place that can host our vision. The Boschetto campus is located in the small village of Peroulades in North Corfu, surrounded by greenery and biodiversity, while remaining accessible and connected to the local community.
The campus offers both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, designed to support a balanced educational experience. Indoor areas provide warmth, shelter, and focus for creative work, group projects, and quiet moments. Outdoor spaces allow children to move freely, play, explore, garden, rest, and learn in direct relationship with nature.
This blend of inside and outside environments will support embodied learning, collaboration, creativity, and a sense of safety and belonging.
A Space in the Making
The building requires renovation and adaptation to fully support the needs of the school and the children. These works will allow us to create safe, welcoming, and inspiring spaces that align with our educational approach.
We are currently fundraising to complete these essential renovations and to open the school. Every contribution helps bring this vision into reality and supports the creation of a nurturing learning environment for children in North Corfu.
